The Physics of Finishing First!
At Excellencia Group of Schools & Colleges, leadership is multi-facet. While one leader can explain what someone should do, a few others in a given situation, walk the walk, themselves. This also applies when demonstrating the values of an organization.
Mr. Abhilash ,Senior Physics Lecturer from Excellencia Group of College, Shamirpet branch completed his full marathon (42km) in 3.55.33 seconds in the NMDC Marathon, organised by Hyderabad Runners Society, in the grand event, with a crowd of 22k, who ran alongside, to reach the finishing line. He has learnt the Physics in running as one of the best and fast athletes in Hyderabad.
Let’s all congratulate our poster boy of running, Excellencia is proud of your achievement. More importantly he has raised our standards high for thousands of colleagues and students, not with his victory alone but his achievement of being a ‘Changemaker’, breaking myths of educational institutes demanding high academic performances promoting sports and co-curricular as distractors, adversely effecting, their scores and grades.
He took to running seriously when his body weight increased to about 12 kg of his present weight after the pandemic. Initially he had difficulty in challenging himself to his goals that looked far from attainable. He still remembers those days when he struggled to finish a 5 km run. He was consistent despite his busy schedules and started participating in marathons. Training under a professional coach was practically impossible with a working professional, and his busy schedule and this gave way searching for the best websites that talked about sports, health and fitness and the overwhelming support and encouragement he received from his family and friends as un-ending supplements, to boost his morale.
It is high time people to banish the myth that Indian Institute of Technology and Medical colleges are not places of fun or extra curriculars and breed boredom in the most gifted brains. They must know that these are the most happening places in the country that nurtures the best debaters, the best artists, the best orators and ensures that every student, is the sum total of, all the best that he or she could offer, to the world.
Excellencia is on its journey to promote this mindset in the coming years where we train our students to seek admission in academic institutes of repute but also acknowledge the hidden talent of every student. Sports is one of our forte. Our sports grounds and sports rooms vent out anxiety, stress and depression and have a positive impact on their self-esteem, efficacy and self-worth.
Mr. Abhilash explains how running purifies heart, mind and body, the essentials for every student, who is working hard to seek good scores in competitive exams. He is demanding more energy, enthusiasm, and endurance for himself in the coming years. Reckon, are you looking for some!
